NOVEMBER 2026 DEADLINE: THURSDAY 10/15 A Directory of local providers By Ana Redzic Every year, Arcadia’s student government (affectionately nicknamed Stugo), ambassadors, National Honor Society members, and dedicated volunteers come together to create a freshmen orientation day called Campcadia to kick off the school year. Incoming students from schools all over Arizona get the opportunity to meet new friends, see the campus up close, and experience life as a Titan. This year’s Campcadia was held on August 7. Students arrived at 8:15, and many seemed nervous to engage with people outside of their middle school friend groups. Volunteers flooded the gym with positive energy as they hyped up the freshmen with creative posters and cheers. Once everyone filed in, Stugo Vice President Vivian Speyer and Treasurer Braden Knaub started the day off strong A LOOK AHEAD AT ARCADIA SPORTS Last year, the Titan athletics program surpassed all expectations: football reached the state championship for the first time in 63 years; basketball won the state championship. This year is starting off a little different, not just for the staff, but for the players. After a remarkable season leading the Titans to the state championship, star quarterback Zach Smith has graduated. With Smith gone, the quarterback spot is up for grabs, a choice that Coach Struzyk will have to ponder on. Star wide receiver Ian Slater has also graduated, leaving Konner Kammes to fill those shoes. Kammes is going into his senior year with Division One offers from Hawaii and Boise State. His play will impact the Titans’ run tremendously. Although this team is loaded with star power, it’ll all come down to their chemistry and ability to work together if they want a repeat of last year. Arcadia basketball is now the state champion, but the team will have a lot to overcome if they want to defend their title. with a lively assembly featuring the spirit line, games, the class chant, advice from sports captains, and opportunities to socialize. Once the assembly was over, the freshmen were split into individual groups to take a guided tour of the campus, sign up for clubs, and have water balloon fights under Mount Olympus. They had the opportunity to ask questions, find specific classrooms, and see Arcadia from the perspective of current students. The day ended in the cafeteria, where Chick-fil-A sandwiches were provided for lunch. Campcadia would not have been possible without the help of Mrs. Kim, the Stugo sponsor, Mrs. Mo, the head of Arcadia’s ambassadors, the PTO, and all the volunteers who dedicated their Friday morning to helping out. Welcome to Arcadia, Class of 2030! Star forward Mason Kendrick and point guard Max Strauss have both graduated, and without the two senior leaders, the Titans will need players to step up. After a remarkable freshman season, state championship MVP Jacobi Thompson took his talents to Mesa. He will be missed – Arcadia wouldn’t have won the state championship without his stellar performance in the final. Another loss to the team is Coach Greg Richards, whose sudden resignation came amidst some controversy with his coaching style. Arcadia will need seniors Brock Knee, Will Heinrichs, and Braden Baldwin to step up. Sophomore Jalen Knighton will also be a player to watch out for after showing significant potential during his freshman season. Although the squad is not as strong on paper, many players have improved in the offseason and are expected to make a big jump.
