30 NOVEMBER 2026 I n Arizona, we don’t remember our Veterans out of ritual, we remember them because their stories are stitched into the very fabric of our state. On Veterans Day, Arizona feels a little more reverent, a little more connected, as we pause together to honor the men and women whose service has protected and shaped our nation including this beautifully rugged place we call home. We carry the legacy of the Navajo Code Talkers with us, Marines whose unbreakable code helped turn the tide in the Pacific during World War II. Their work stayed secret for years, but their impact endures as one of Arizona’s most extraordinary contributions to our country. We see that legacy in places like Oro Valley’s Arizona Heroes Memorial, where Forever Bricks hold names and stories, and Legacy Trees stand as symbols of resilience. It’s a space where families gather, and where gratitude becomes something you can touch. We honor it in Tucson at the Pima Air & Space Museum, where aircraft that once carried hope, strategy, and sacrifice now rest under the desert sun. Nearby in the town of Sahuarita, the Titan Missile Museum reminds us of the vigilance required during the Cold War. And in Mesa, the Air Force Commemorative Museum keeps alive the legacy of pilots, crews, and innovators who for a century have shaped American air power. We remember the lesser-known chapters, too, like the brief but important period when the U.S. Navy operated along the Colorado River in Yuma, before the region evolved into one of the nation’s most important Marine aviation hubs. For us, Veterans Day isn’t ceremonial. It’s personal. It’s the Veteran running a small business in Mesa, the retired Airman volunteering at a school in Flagstaff, the National Guard Veteran volunteering at the VA, or the Army Veteran finding peace hiking Camelback Mountain at sunrise. We honor our Veterans with landscapes that mirror their strength, like Piestewa Peak and with memorials and plaques, that preserve their stories, like the Civil War markers at Picacho Pass. And on Veterans Day across this wide and beautiful state, we say something simple and sincere: We see you. We thank you. We will never forget.
